Project Summary
–
The project will address the topic of sports and social inclusion for young people from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds (particularly those from disadvantaged groups or with disabilities) living in the most deprived areas of Milan, Madrid, London, and Berlin, who have limited access to sports.
–
The objective of the “Let’s Play Together” project is to encourage equal access and active participation in sports among young people (ages 5–17) and to promote social inclusion through sports. The partnership consists of four sports organizations from four EU member states (Italy, the United Kingdom, Spain, and Germany), all active in the sports sector and with relevant experience in sports projects aimed at promoting social inclusion in urban areas. As part of the project, each partner will run a specific annual program in its municipality, where young people will have the opportunity to participate free of charge in a combination of weekly sports courses and other sports activities, alongside a broader personal development program focused on social integration.
–
The project will place particular emphasis on networking activities aimed at sharing best practices among partners, through five transnational partner meetings and study visits to the partners’ countries; it will also contribute to EWOS 2018 through various sports events and initiatives related to the project and organized by the partners in their cities in September 2018.
–
The communication and dissemination plan will ensure maximum visibility for the project at both the European and local levels, even after the project has ended. The project methodology builds on previous projects carried out by the partners and is primarily based on practical tasks and activities that can ensure the active engagement and participation of young people.
–
The project will have a direct impact on young participants and will create the right environment for promoting the positive values of sports (respect, fair play, responsibility, teamwork) and for promoting equity, social inclusion, and integration among young people in urban areas.
